Art
The arts (paintings, statues, busts, etc.) of 1871 all the way through 1937 were marked as a period of unusual styles of art. For example, Johannes Aurelius Richard Fedor “van” Kregten painted a multitude of landscape drawings, this may not seem unusual at first but prepare to be amazed as I tell you that all the different landscape paintings he did actually depicted cows! Seems to me Kregten had an obsession with cows. Another famous but unusual painter of the time is Lajos Koloszvary, the painter of the famous The Rabbis Playing Cards which now fetches for $15,000 (Lavosky 1). With all this unusual art happening around, one person decided not to stray too far from the natural confines of art, and that person is Archibald Keightley Nicholson. Nicholson is a master ecclesiastical stained glass maker. Other professional artists include Huguette Mendes and John Gallard Pollard.
